United Methodist Women

Desert Spring Church’s United Methodist Women (UMW) is part of a worldwide organization whose mission is to improve the lives of women, children and youth.  We put hope, faith and love into action.

Globally, we have over 800,000 members and raise over $20 Million for our mission programs in 100 countries around the world.  We work for racial and environmental justice, against human trafficking and the criminalization of communities of color and many other projects.

Locally, we share in a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ.  We support many missions locally that improve the life of women, children and youth by raising funds as well as volunteering. To that end, we have many projects throughout the year.

Desert Spring’s chapters are formed into circles. At Desert Spring Church, we currently have two active circles as well as women who are “Unit Members” (members who are actively helping with special projects or monetary support but are unable to attend circle meetings). Each circle decides what their mission focus should be.

Deborah Circle meets monthly in their member’s homes on the second Wednesday at 9:30am.  Their mission focus is on “Spread The Word Nevada”, a local organization which puts books into the hands of children.

Serendipity Circle meets the third Thursday of each month at 10 am.  Their current mission focus is “Family Promise”, an organization which helps homeless families transition into permanent housing.  They also support “Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth”.

Membership in the Desert Spring United Methodist Women is open to all women who are committed to mission.
