Sandy Valley Food Pantry Update – September, 2020
It’s about time for another pantry update!
I would first like to give a shout out to Dan and Joel for doing such a great job helping out when they come to the pantry. I appreciate the help so much.
Things are going good! We have been feeding an almost constant of around 225 people. There has been an increase in delivery requests so we are fulfilling 10-15 drops offs as well.
Space is still an issue and I am excited to get a shed build-out plan set. My volunteer Lisa pulled some strings at the Primm outlet mall (Stateline) and we got all the frozen food and dry goods donated from Charley’s cheesesteaks restaurant. The mall wanted to give us additional help so they partnered with Old Navy to set up a donation bin at the Old Navy store. That was a pretty awesome blessing. They are going to keep it up through October.
As always our clients are extremely grateful. We tried a new set up for the pantry outside as we have had several complaints about how scary it is to walk down the stairs while carrying a handful of food. We normally have a volunteer able to do carry outs and I will do them as well but a lot of times were are understaffed on pantry nights. We always seem to find a way to make it work though.
I have included some pics and a pic of us receiving food from the mall.
Thanks!
