We are holding a day of prayer/meditation labyrinth experience with the
wonderful folks at Journey United Methodist Church.
Their campus sits high on Sunrise Mountain, with a wonderful view over the entire valley.
This date falls just shy of the 2nd Anniversary of the horrific shootings
in Las Vegas, and will be a time when we remember and recommit
The labyrinth will be available for individuals and groups to experience.
Perhaps you would like to bring your family out, or a study or ministry group,
or just your friends...to walk and pray for our community. There will be
folks to offer guidance and information. The area is desert, so sturdy shoes
are recommended. The evening will be in declining sunlight, but should
be a comfortable temperature.
The theme for this year's men's retreat is "Truth!...?"
Discovering and destroying the lies we believe about ourselves.
Join us for fun, fellowship and reflection enjoyed in the wilderness of Mt. Potosi.
Fee is $75 and includes registration, three meals and lodging.
Read with Rascal
Saturday, October 12, 10am - Noon
Children's book author Sierra Gullickson will read "If Halloween Could Be Every Day", play guitar and sing with the kids, as well as give away two copies of her book.
Come dressed in costume, if you like!
Read with Rascal is a reading program for children of elementary age. Children bring a few of their favorite books and find it fun and challenging to read to the certified therapy dogs.
The children see the dogs are non-judgmental, so they feel comfortable reading to them. Dogs listen attentively while allowing children to read at their own pace. A child’s success in school depends on great reading skills and this is the perfect place for the child to accomplish this.
Adults relax, and enjoy the children and dogs. Younger children listen, run around and play. We serve refreshments and have handouts for the children.
All ages are welcome!
Read with Rascal dogs are registered through national organizations: Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Michael’s Angel Paws, Independent Therapy Dogs, Inc., etc.
This program is sponsored by Desert Spring United Methodist Church, however, NO CHURCH AFFILIATION IS NECESSARY to participate! Read with Rascal is free of cost to participants.
