A Letter from Pastor David
May 23rd, 2020
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
By now you may have heard news from the President declaring that it is time for houses of worship to reopen. I appreciate the President’s recognition of the importance of church. We certainly know how important church is in our lives! We also know that there are many people in our congregation, and on the church staff, who have very good reason to be extremely cautious when it comes to public events. As a church, we remain committed to doing no harm while being a church where all are welcome to participate fully. We have decided that it is in the best interest of our congregation, and the greater community, to wait a little longer before reopening for public worship. The weeks to come, and the news related to Covid-19, will give us much needed information for us to know when it is best for Desert Spring to reopen.
While I know that there are some of our folks who are anxious to return to public worship, I also know that all of our folks understand that for the wellbeing of the whole, it is best to delay reopening a little while longer. Our Bishop is in complete agreement, and has written a beautiful letter explaining the need to wait. His letter is attached. I hope you will take a few minutes to read the Bishop’s letter, which is posted below. And, know that I continue to hold us all in prayer.
God bless you and stay well!
Pastor Dave
