Seven Last Words of Christ Sermon Series
Our sermon series for Sunday, Feb. 26 – Maundy Thursday, April 6 is, “Seven Last Words of Christ.”
Feb. 26 – “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.”
Jesus’ first words from he cross was a prayer for you and I, as well as the people of Jesus’ day.
March 5 – “Behold your son.”
These words are not only practical, as Jesus was caring for his mother, Mary, but they are a reminder that Jesus was creating the biggest family the world has ever known.
March 12 – “My God, why have you forsaken me?”
We can all feel abandoned by God. We want God to do what we want God to do, and when it doesn’t happen, we wonder where God is. It is in the darkest of times that God does some of God’s best work.
March 19 – “Today you will be with me in paradise.”
Jesus was teaching us that paradise is here today – now – because paradise is being with Jesus.
March 26 – “I thirst.”
Both the full divinity and the full humanity of Jesus are present on the cross.
April 2 – “Into your hands I commit my spirit.”
Jesus died forgiving people, caring for family, quoting scripture, and praying the prayer he was taught by his mother as a child.
April 6 – “It is finished.”
What is finished? What is there left for us to do?
